TECC GIVES BACK!

Teaching our young children the importance of helping others is an important part of our education program at TECC. The concepts of caring, helping, and giving of oneself are broken down to level at 2, 3 and 4 year children can understand. The children at TECC begin each year by making a “LOOK OUT BANK” which is used to collect BOX TOPS for The Ark and pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.

The Ark is a preschool in downtown Baltimore for homeless children. During our fall Book Pajama Party, the children are able to donate one of their own books to the children of The Ark and raise money through a bake sale to help The Ark buy school supplies. Every spring the children from The Ark come out to TECC a play date!

At Thanksgiving, TECC joins the entire Towson community to support the Assistance Center of Towson Churches (ACTC) in assembling and distributing Thanksgiving food bags. Each family provides one food item for the bags and throughout the month of November, each class is tasked with doing 25 good deeds to earn money to buy food in the TECC Thanksgiving Grocery Store.

TECC supports the Ronald McDonald House in several ways.In addition to collecting pull tabs, during our breakfast with Santa, the children give Santa a present to take to the children of the Ronald McDonald house that are not able to make it home for Christmas due to medical treatments. TECC parents also sponsors monthly dinner for the families as well as an activity hour for the children of RMHC.

In the spring, TECC takes a week of school to teach the children about Heifer International. The week begins with each class choosing an animal that they would like to raise money to purchase by doing chores at home throughout the week (flock of chick, honey bees, rabbits, goats, etc.). To wrap up the week, TECC families are invited to an all school family picnic at Meadowood Park where the children run a bake sale with items that they have made during the week. The goal of the bake sale is always to raise enough money as school to buy a cow for $500!
