Science Camp
Session I
Odd
Year: Journey through the
Rainforest
The sights, sounds, tastes, and resources from the rainforest will be brought to
life for your child during this two week adventure. They will be learning about the plants, animals and people that
make the rainforest one of the most unique places on Earth.

Through multiple hands-on and visual activities the children will learn what a
rainforest is, where they are located, how a water cycle work, what is an ecosystem, what are the different layers
of the rainforest and how are they unique, what is a lifecycle, how does a food chain work and what happens when it
gets broken, what everyday resources do we get from the rainforest, as well as, what we can do to help protect
it.

Each child will also work together with their class to make an all school
rainforest exhibit including the layers, plants, and animals to be displayed during the second week of camp. On the
last day the children will create TECC’s very own Rainforest Café. Each class will prepare meals, snacks, or treats
made from foods that are indigenous to the rainforest to share with everyone during a culminating assembly and
picnic. Your child’s Journey Through the Rainforest will surely be an engaging educational trip they will not soon
forget
Even Year: Space Camp
Monday, June 28h through
Friday July 9th
The first week of Space Camp will take the children on a
journey through the solar system in which they will learn about the many different objects that can be found in
space, the difference between moons and planets, rotation vs. revolution, and the contrast between the atmosphere
on Earth compared to outer space.

Through the making of a full scale model of the solar system, the children will
learn the importance of models, why scientists use them, and what we can learn from them. The second week of Space
camp will focus on space exploration. Each classroom will create a timeline to learn about the evolution and
history of space travel. The children will also learn what an astronaut is and about the many different types of
training necessary to becoming one.

Space camp will finish with the making and launching of rockets, as well as, a
trip to the Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. Space camp will be filled with
many active and hands-on activities to stimulate your child’s imagination and wonder each time they stare up into
night sky.
