The TWOS
The primary focus of our two-year-old program is the
development of social skills.

The children start their day with “circle time” which
begins the process of learning how to listen, take turns and follow directions. The children learn to operate as
part of a large group and how to function successfully within that setting. They are encouraged in large and
small group settings to share and develop the appropriate language to communicate to their peers and
adults.

The two-year-old academic curriculum is theme and
literature based. For example, they do a unit on the author Eric Carle in which they then base all their story
time, projects, math and science activities around characters and concepts from within his
books. They would also learn about the concepts of
authors and illustrators.

The two-year-old curriculum is geared towards the
pace of each individual class, allowing them to be flexible and easily adjustable to the needs of students that
attend only two or three days a week. Themes are also used to expose the students to the more traditional
academic concepts which include the alphabet, counting, patterns, colors, and shapes.

Always creating innovative ways to teach.
